How do I do a clean reinstall using a burnt Windows 7 disc?

Lately, my Samsung laptop which runs Windows 7 Home Premium has been running sluggish which means it looks like I'll either have to do a clean reinstall or send it to the company that I got it from so they can do it themselves (fortunately I made a backup of everything to my external hard drive including programs so all I need to do is check which programs need reinstalling and do it that way)

The main problem is that my laptop won't recognise the USB Repair software which I downloaded from a reputable private torrent site whose name shall remain anonymous so I've downloaded a Windows 7 Home Premium ISO which I hope to use with the serial number which is on a label on the bottom of the laptop itself.

In any case, what's the best way to do a clean reinstall using a backup disc seeing as Samsung, like other companies can't be bothered to give you a legal disc to reinstall Windows 7 from!angryfire.gif

A burnt disk of the official ISO will work

Just boot it up from the CD/DVD and follow the instruction. You might need to use the cable connect for internet to download appropriate drivers and updates after the installation.

So in other words, if the clean reinstall works successfully, I just hook up the laptop to the router using a Ethernet cable and download the relevant drivers and updates that way?

Once again, thanks for all the good work that you do for these forums and for everybody who needs your assistance and guidance!smile.gif

UPDATE: Tried to do a System Update using the disc that I burnt but it claimed that it didn't need using.

I reloaded Windows and certain programs can be opened and closed including windows from Yahoo Messenger but it's still running sluggish.

I'm still undecided as to whether to send it to the company that I got it from (as I said, all the data got backed up to an external hard drive and I deleted the folders that I didn't need from the original hard drive) or try again to fix it.

I'm still puzzled as to why I can't seem to fix the computer.

You can always run a chkdsk and virus scan and see. But if a system did not help I would try a new installation before sending it in. Would it make any difference if you run in safe mode?

How do I do a chkdsk? I'm not too sure if a virus check or a reinstall would work from safe mode but I'll give it a try.

Right click on the drive, it will bring up "properties", tools tab and check the error checking option - follow the instruction
