point me in the right direction

So I currently run a MBP C2D which has served me well for classes and doing all my stupid calculus hw online (do you know how many key combinations and function buttons you need to use to produce diff eqs on mathlab? I miss the pen and paper days...) but I am looking for something more media oriented now. Something mainly to immerse myself in videos and possibly games but mainly videos since I mainly console game. I would like to find a large screen laptop with super duper high resolution. 3d capability is a plus and even a bigger plus if I am able to plug my ps3 into it and use the 3d screen (if thats even possible) Battery life must be able to last at least half an hour so I can move it from room to room. Would like it to have a baller sound system. I used to own a 17in toshiba p35 and that had the most amazing sound system ive ever heard on a laptop. Killer surround sound effects with srs wow and the 2 little harmon kardon speakers that actually gave some thumb. As awesome as that laptop was to me, the design of the bottom fans essentially made it overheat ever other week, then every other day, then every other hour, then poof. So id prefer a laptop that I could set on a couch or bed and not have to worry about it imploding because of bottom mounted fans. Other than that, anything else would be icing on the cake. Oh I forgot about price range, 1500 give or take depending on if the extra bones would be worth the value. Point me to the right laptop please.

Already using a Mac, stay with it - go for the new macbook pro, plenty of power for games, multimedia etc ...

Thanks... maybe I should ask to point me in the right direction of a better forum? My mac is plenty capable of doing everything but its a 13in screen. The sound system sounds exactly the same to me from the 13 to the 17, not any louder. Id prefer to get a 17in+ screen with all the other features I wanted in a laptop. Not interested in any mbp unless they revamp it significantly. Any actual suggestions?

Ask and it is granted - Google is your friend ...

When was the last time you checked the macbook pro 17" out?

17" non-Apple machines ... Samsung Series 7, MSI GT780DX, MSI G6xx series - pretty much having all the features you want in a laptop, whatever features you have in mind. Take a look at the News Section - many latest 17" non-Apple notebooks are being announced, to be available next month.

The Envy 17 3D is in your price range, depending on where you purchase,  it also has Beats audio which is nice, 2nd choice I would look in to is the Toshiba Qosmio they have Harmon Kardon speakers. both are good laptops for your specific needs.

I work in the mall and stop by the apple store nearly everyday to say hey to a friend on my breaks. Ive checked them out plenty. The speakers are essentially identical throughout the entire mbp line up.

So instead of a mbp, you're recommending the windows imitator of the mbp? The qosmio is nice, especially the f755 with the no glasses head tracking 3d screen. Very cool indeed, but after playing around with my friends lg thrill for about 30 min, I started getting headaches from those 3d screens. Starting to realize their coolness wears off very quickly.

Thanks guys for the useless input, I have better luck reading my sunday ads. But like admin said above, google is my friend. I remembered a laptop I wanted way back in the day called pro star just didnt really fit my 15 yr old allowance. Googled them and they apparently sell Asus as well, much cheaper than I could find anywhere else so I ended up ordering a custom asus g74. Thanks for the apple fanboy help guys, steve jobs would have been proud of you guys, but id like to see any mbp touch the performance of 16gb ram 3gb vid ram and hybrid ssd with bluray.
