HP Pavilion DV4 1100ea upgrades?

Hi everyone.

Just looking for some helpful advice. Iv had this laptop for 2-3 years now and done a few upgrades on it, i now run 4gb of ram and run windows 7.
I game an awful lot on it, World of Warcraft mostly. My question is is there anything i can do to boost gaming performance? I know WoW runs on the processor and doesnt really rely on the graphics card - so im told. So does anyone know of a possible processor upgrade if possible for this laptop? In WoW i run at 30-50fps and in heavy combat in raids etc it sinks to 12-20fps.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

So far so good with heat. Ill have to give it a good run at some point. I'll probs be raiding on WoW tomorrow so ill find out then.

The paste on the processor was non-exisistant when i dismantaled it.ohmy.gif  Wasnt as dusty as i thought it would be, had been a while sinse i pulled it all apart.

With the new processor and SSD on the way my laptop will be pretty much new again. Saves a few pennies. however SSD's are not cheap lol. dude.gif

Just taken a look, lots of good info there.

I have found one that's compatible with the laptop and that's the Crucial M4. Over here in the UK you're paying aprox £1 a Gb really. Figured if i just have my games and all general computer programs etc on the SSD i dont need a huge one and then ill keep my music and videos on my other hard drive.

Regarding the possible heating situation - the new cpu varies around 30-36 degrees centigrade which isnt to bad. So thats good.smile.gif

Sounded like a good plan - you might want to look into Continent Europe when buying electronic stuffs, can go a long way with the quid vs the Euro winknudge.gif
