Then it asks me to install drivers from a disk, but I don't have any drivers!
My laptop is a Sony TZ (Model VGB-TZ27GN/B)

Check your BIOS settings:

- does it recognize the drive?
- SATA support enabled?

Yes, it is recognized in the BIOS. It is one of those wierd 1.8" ipod hard drives.
No, there is no option for SATA configuration.

You are using an iPod drive for the Sony? Or just a statement in general

It came with it. The TK series uses those small 1.8" hard drives from Toshiba.

Might want to use a LiveCD and see if Linux recognize the drive, if yes, format it then try Vista again
