Thinking of getting a new notebook...

Thread Starter
To replace my aging i9400. I have a very powerful desktop, so I am not sure I need a notebook to be the "workhorse" that I needed when I originally got my first Dell notebook (i9300, that I pin modded, then did a 7800 GTX swap on w/ 7200 RPM hard drive that got stolen) so I replaced it with a newer i9400 that I've upgraded the CPU to the max it can handle, 4GB 667 RAM, 7200 RPM hdd, 7950GTX modded into it. This is what I am wanting to replace.

Now my desktop is an i7 870, 8GB ddr3 1333, 2x1TB hdd RAID 0, 1TB storage, 470 GTX and a nice 23" display. Not sure I want/need a laptop more powerful than that.

However, I do still use my laptop mostly when I travel and I use it for photography purposes. So a 17" 1080P or higher screen is a must. I'm not worried about buying a "maxxed out" laptop, as I'd prefer to buy it with as little options as possible, so that I can add/upgrade those options later. Basically, I'm looking for this generation i9300 and I don't want to spend more than ~$1500 for one.

I probably wont buy one, because in the end I always just talk myself out of buying a new laptop. Like last year when I built my desktop, I was going to just get a lappy but talked myself into getting a powerful desktop. Which I am happy about, but I'm not going to upgrade my desktop right now it's just too soon to worry about that, but I got my lappy back in '06. It's time to retire it I think.

XPS17 lines would fit you fine, with the price you are willing to spend

cheers ...
