NP9280 / D900F Stopped powering up

Like the title says, got a D900F that refuses to power up now. Was working the day before just fine (and for over 2 years) and now here's what happens:

When I plug it into the power supply the two LEDs that tell you it's plugged in and the battery is charging come on like normal.

However when I push the power button, it turns blue and the two LEDs go out but nothing happens. After about ten seconds the caps lock and num lock LEDs start flashing (I'm assuming this is an error code I cant figure out). After another 5 seconds the scroll lock LED also starts flashing with the caps lock and num lock LEDs. Then after another 5 seconds everything goes out and the two LEDs that tell you it's plugged in and the battery is charging come back on and the blue light around the power button shuts off.

I'm guessing it's some kind of power problem, tried swapping power supplies but that didn't help. Also removed the battery, let it sit for a few minutes, but that didn't help.

Any ideas before I send this thing back for a costly out of warranty repair?

Try removing everything you can (memory module, hard drive, wireless card ...) and re-seating them. Next thing is to clean out the inside real good with new thermal paste. Then we'll see. Good luck

So the laptop's been sitting a few days powered down, and I was going to take it apart this weekend and secure all the connectors, but for the hell of it I hit the power button today and it booted up.

While I have it running again, does anyone have any recommended utilities I can run on this thing to get an idea as to where the problem might be?

Still going to take it apart and secure everything over the weekend just to be on the safe side.

That's a good new smile.gif

Yes, I would still go with the taking apart and applying new thermal paste. In the mean time, run Memcheck and chkdsk
