Hard drive and Memory upgrade: Vaio Z

Thread Starter

So, being a long time away from the forums. However, I do have a couple of questions:

I own a Vaio Z series laptop, especifically the VGNZ520N. It comes with 3GB of memory and 512GB of hard disk (I think). I am looking into upgrading it to a new HD and memory and was wondering how far can I go. As long as the HDD, I am looking into putting into it a ~128GB SSD. However, the memory upgrade, on the specification, the manual says it will support max 4GB of memory and I was wondering if that is for real. I mean, can't it take 8GB with a bios upgrade ? So confusing.

So guys, could you please let me know what kind of SSD drive I can put into this laptop, and also, if the memory upgrade can be made to 8GB without problems ? or should it only be 4GB ? Also, if any of you knows any guide on replacing the hard drive I would appreciate if you can direct me to it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Take a look at the stickies here in the section. Many dis-assembly guides can be used for reference.

As far as more than 4GB of ram, I haven't seen one yet for your model- SSDs? specs supporting up to 512GB - take your pick from OCZ, Intel etc ... (Amazon, NewEggs, eBay ...)

cheers ...
