HP Pavilion DV4 1100ea CD/DVD issue

Hi again.

 

This is not a recent issue but one i have had for a while. My CD/DVD drive is not working properly. What it should do is be able to do the obvious. What my drive is doing is only reading CDs. I can place a CD in and it will play it, i can place blank CDs in to burn but for some reason i cannot watch DVDs no more or play games that require the disk or burn DVDs.

I believe i have tried every possible driver route. Uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled with the latest drivers. I have gone through all the usual paths.

Anyone have an idea in which i can do to solve it. Maybe im doing something wrong? Could it actaully be the part itself?

You can try removing the optical drive and re-installing it (physically). If that does not work you might be looking at replacing it

Yeah i have tried that also. I thought it was worth asking the question before having to buy a new one. Which i have done now, I managed to buy one from ebay for £22 which isnt bad. I hope this solves the issue.

So the new drive came today - and it solved the problem. headbang.gif
