MobileForce dead?

Thread Starter

I'm using a GeForce 8600M GT included in a Sony VGN-AR770.

Let me just say, I was using the MobileForce Se7ven version 190.38 for years. After I re-formatted and installed Windows 7 64-Bit, it was the only driver package I could find that was compatible with my machine. I believe it to be the best mobile driver package out there, not only for its tweaks but its high degree of compatibility.

I recently came back to the forums searching for a newer version, since I finally needed to update in order to play Battlefield 3, which requires 285.38.

I was disappointed when I found 260.99 was the last version, and almost a year old. BTW, the MobileForce 260.99 was the first 2xx series drivers that I was able to install on this machine. Anything else from TweakForce or Nvidia directly has not been installable.

I downloaded the official WHQL 285.38 and 285.62 directly from Nvidia as well. Although they claim those unified driver packages are compatible with the 8600M GT, I cannot seem to get them to work or even detect my card upon installation.

NOTHING works as well as the NBF MobileForce drivers! The installation is care-free and always works!

Please make them for version 285.38 or higher (285.62 if possible)!

Since my laptop came with 32-bit Vista, Sony doesn't even have drivers for it. Nvidia never supported my card, saying that I needed to go to Sony to get the drivers, since it was a specific Geforce model only available in a select-few Sony laptops (I think it's in some Macbook pro's as well).

Regardless, I think it's amazing that there are actually people out there like Fenuxx who can provide BETTER products than the companies I'm buying the products from in the first place!

Please come back again Fenuxx, and make us another set. More people appreciate the drivers than you know.
