Have you tried with another power adapter? How old is the comp? When was the last time you took it apart and do some internal cleaning? Too much dust built up in the comp can cause some burned smell when the machine gets hot

Hi,

Its two and half years old, the ac is fine and i did try other ac cables.I opened it two days ago and gave it a clean but there wasn't much dust build up at all, i also checked all the fuses and they are ok i think it may be a problem with the motherboard?

By AC cable you meant the whole unit, or just the cable that goes to the wall socket?

Did you try applying new thermal paste? Visual check the area where the power jack is, with magnifying glass, and see if any burnt (discoloring) marks

(ac) Power cable.Have already checked the power jack and it seems fine.Using laptop now and if i diconnect the battery now the laptop will remain on no problem but when i power off and restart, the unit will not power up unless i install the battery again.

I will try the thermal paste.

Thanks qhn for your advice.

You might want to try another whole AC unit (the brick and the cord)

I would try also find and use another battery. If this fails you can try next removing (re-seating) the CMOS battery.

Hi'

motherboard 1,1.JPG  Found the problem with my laptop, would it be possible to replace the chips that are gone that are marked in picture?

Thanks.

I don't see why not, if you can find the parts.

Bad news, if those components are toast, then they are impossible to fix without a circuit diagram to get the correct range of components and very very good, (exceptional) soldering skills - burn any of the components round about and it is dead and it doesn't take much for the minute resistors to burn... Check e-bay out for a replacement, or see what ACER do - if you are in Europe check out the 6 year electrical goods repair act....

My motherboard number is mbaur 06001.This motherboard is quite hard to find, I have noticed the 6530g uses 3 other types of board could i use one of these or is there another type of board i could use? Thanks

If the board form factor fits, I don't see any issues with using it. You have the full part number on the board?

cheers ...
