Alternate Toshiba driver sites?

I will NEVER buy another toshiba...

I've got a Portege T110 that has been a nightmare PC. Random wireless dropouts requiring a reboot (not even in device manager), loud static and random beeps from the speaker, horrid trackpad, etc. I finally gave up and decided to start with a fresh install...

I've been trying to download drivers from the Toshiba asia site (http://pc.toshiba-asia.com/support/drivers) but the connection stops after a few seconds. I've tried connecting from some of my servers in US, europe, etc. and nothing can get a good conection (i'm currently in thailand on a 15 Mbps connection). I spoke to toshiba phone support and they twice promised me to email at least the ACPI driver and latest BIOS but never did. I've told them the download section is dead and they blame my browser/connection/astrological sign. They finally told me to "go find drivers on google".

Horrible product, horrible service.

Upgrading to Win7 x64 Pro from Win 7 x86 Home Premium.

Try any driver for the Portege T110 on the above site and see what kind of connection you get. It's been this way for days.

Yep - connections are dropping of for me as well, stopping at 3% on the wireless driver - and this morning here in Europe

No, that site only has 2 drivers and they're for satellite T110, not portege. I think the models are nearly identical but when i tried the satellite drivers from the US support page i get an "unsupported bios" error.

Let me dig around some more and see if I can get something from within Europe support. That link you had in OP is really bad, I tried in between posts and it is not going anywhere - might have something to do with bad weather in Asia winknudge.gif

Thanks for your assistance.

I was able to finally get it sorted. I found the device ID for one of the ACPI devices and discovered it was bluetooth and did a manual install for that. For the remaining unknown device i went to "drivers and printers" and went through the troubleshooting options for the system (which had a yellow exclamation due to the missing drivers) and it was able to locate the other.

It's kind of interesting that this path can find a driver by itself but device manager cannot.

i don't think the site issues are due to weather, both the file server and website for toshiba asia support are in singapore and everything's fine there.

We had massive flooding here but that's all moved down to Bangkok now. Expect some price increases in tech goods soon, everything is flooded. ohmy.gif

Glad to hear all sorted out. Yes, try staying dry over there. Hard drive prices are already creeping up 5-10% winknudge.gif
