Hi,

My Dell E1505 of 5 years in perfect working condition running on Windows 7 has suddenly started freezing as soon as it connects using a LAN/Ethernet port. After this started happening i have also seen a few BSOD;s of Hardware Failure too.

I did a reformat today but that also hasnt help. can someone please guide me as to what can be the issue and how to get rid of it.

thanks & regards

Try with another LAN cable?
Does this happen under safe mode with network?

Un-check the automatic restart in system and share with us the BSOD message / code

though i couldnt get hold of a new ethernet cable but i did plug mine into a new laptop and it works fine.

i am not much of a hardware guy and have absolutely no clue as to how i can swap the ram modules, kindly shed some light on that and how it will help solve the issue.

Dell Support Site should have a service manual for your model. Take a look at Ram replacement chapter - quite simple to do, really

There is a remote chance of connection between some bad ram and your Ethernet port issue, based on the error message that you gave above. Search the net about that error message and it should give you a long list of possibilities - I chose the one that is simplest to try out winknudge.gif
