Can't decide!

Hi,

 

I'm trying to decide between the Lenovo Edge 520 and the ThinkPad T520i.

 

The first has this screen:

 


15.6 W HD (1366x768) Anti-Glare, Midnight Black
 

 

 

 

and the Lenovo ThinkPad T520i has this screen, upgradeable to a higher resolution:

 


15.6" HD (1366 x 768) LED Backlit Anti-Glare Display, Mobile Broadband Ready

 

Can anyone advise? Thanks so much!

Can't decide because of the screen? Or just the different models in general?

Thanks for your response in the other thread, too.

 

The stores here only have the 1368x768 to look at, so I can't compare.

 

Have you seen the E520 screen in person? If so, is the contrast okay?

I don't have experience with the E520 in specific - but Lenovo offer good quality screens as a whole, constantly. I'd put Lenovo screen up there with Sony (personal preference) as far as good with the eyes and clarity in working environments.

And if you can, price negotiable, go with a higher resolution screen - one can always tweak the resolution down when needed.

My lenovo experience sucked! i got it for school a year ago September, and it broke 7 times on me. The fan in it was busted when i got it, which lead to me frying my keybored, hardrive and RAM. I also had to restore my hard drive 7 times throughout the 14 months, replaced 3 hard drives (originally 500 gig, they sent me 350 gig ones back) replaced 2 keybores, all my RAM (they gave me back less RAM than i originally had) and also had to get a new fan. The parts are all free, and they get them to you quickly, but they break way to easy. IMO id stay the hell away from Lenovo (however i am a gamer and ran mine hard). W510, cost me 1700$, i figured i could run WoW and Portal 2 and Crysis 1 on it, but ever since IBM stopped making Lenovo's they've sucked. IMO
