Studio 1735

Thread Starter

Hi,

Have a Dell studio 1735 which I dearly love, mostly because of the lighted KB.

I would like to upgrade to the highest level.  In the old days, one could pop the

motherboard, replace it with a newer one and "bang" new computer. Is it possible

to do the same with this laptop? Any suggestions will help.

You could upgrade up to certain point the CPU and GPU. Installing another mainboard from another (better) model might not always work for notebooks in general.

Thanks for the info.

I wonder what the best cpu and motherboard could be purchased when the 1735 was available.  What about the top 1737 motherboard and cpu?

Hello Ron,

My name is Gaurav and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

It appears that you want to upgrade your notebook with the latest hardware configuration. However every computer built has a separate architecture for major components like CPU and Motherboard. So its very difficult to upgrade such parts, there may be some success in upgrading such parts however you may not get the best from these upgrades. These parts can only be upgraded at the time of manufacturing. My recommendation will be to upgrade Memory,Hard drive or Operating System.

1.Maximum memory can be of 4GB on 32 bit OS and 8 Gb on 64 bit OS.Memory Type :800 MHz SODIMM DDR2.

2.Maximum Hard drive can be  of 500gb with 5400 RPM.

3.With the same configuration Operating System can also be upgraded to windows 7 if it was not preinstalled.

Thank You.

Dell-Gaurav G
