No luck required! I'm back up and running!
After I finally got time to sit down and take my laptop apart I got the GPU out and put it in the oven for 10min at 385° and now I have my computer back.
This is the same technique I use to bring Xbox 360s back from the RROD so I know the oven trick works. Apparently the modern lead-free solder is plaguing more than just Microsoft.
Anyway thanks for helping me track the problem down. I'll post if anything happens or how long it lasts for. I'll be testing with some intense gaming to see.

Glad to hear that you have it back. But please, no intensive tasks in long periods. It s not the same as with a new graphic card or board
