So what happened? I haven't been able to access the site for over a day. Was this a planned outage?

Yes, it was down, same thing with pctorque.com. Why is this in the Dell section?

I was going through withdrawals. These forums have been my source of sanity while waiting for my iXPS to arrive.

I took it in stride. I've been meaning to upgrade my wireless from D-link's propriatary 22MB/s 802.11b up to Linksys 802.11g router w/Dell 1350 Mini-PCI on all three notebooks. What's up with the signal strength of the new 1350? It only reads between low to good regardless of notebook location. I was getting excellent receive levels with the older D-Link Mini-PCIs.

I was kinda grateful that it was down cause I have finals, and have to study. Usually I check up on these finals at least twice a day out of curiosity of what's going on. And yea, right after I get over my withdrawel the forums comes back online. hehe.

Apparently the guys/girls over at pctorque (who provide these forums) had a major 'hardware failure' the pctorque website was also down.

I dunno what I'd do....... maybe go back to the dell forum? Since coming here I prefer it so much and post a lot less on the Dell forum. Community is better here

but you still go to the dell forums sakor1
post #18 of 20
Yeah, but as I said, I post a lot less there now, especially compared to what I post here........... but yeah I still post.

Why? There are more interesting topics, and a better variety IMO, raised here and it has more of a sense of community.

At the Dell forums you can find some good posts..... but you have to dig through 10'000 of the same thing every day where they could easily have used the search function or looked through the first page. Eg:
- Can you upgrade the video in the i5100? (If I see that one more time....)
- Why is my CPU only going at 600MHz (Speedstep questions out the wazoo)
- System suddenly slow, HELP!

Sure, we get stuff like that here occasionally, but generally people here are much better at looking before they ask so I don't mind.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the Dell forums but the shine has worn off and it seems to be going downhill.

Just my two cents anyway,

stu

I'm still there, but I only post a couple of messages a day there so I can understand if someone thought I was gone completely.
