eMachines M6810 unresponsive keyboard and touchpad

Suddenly and out of the blue my touchpad is not working anymore. The laptop sat unused so it hasn't been dropped or anything like that. The keyboard sometimes won't work either. I searched around a bit but couldn't find much. Are these known issues? Has anyone ran into this situation? Just trying to get an idea before I open up this laptop.
Thanks!

Remove battery and ac adapter - perform the normal cold reset by pressing down on the power button for 40 secs or so and see

Tried that, unfortunately no luck azz.gif
Windows does not detect the touchpad, it does not shows up in Device Manager or under Mice.

Take the palm rest and the keyboard out, re-seat them. If this fails, you need to look into replacing the units. Happened to a few of us here on NBF

I hope that'll fix'em.
I'll go ahead and do so and will return with results.

Good luck. Be careful with the ribbon cable by the touchpad and the palm-rest

Ouch - good luck finding some cheap parts - try looking into getting a used dead comp for parts also

Im looking to sell the laptop anyway and of course his sort of thing would happen now. I'm still debating if I should fix it or sell as is.
Thanks for all the help.

Sell as is is easy, though selling it in pieces might get you more albeit more time involved. Too bad - it is a good machine, I still have and use mine almost daily

cheers ...
