thx for that, updated the bios, doesnt seem to be any change. wish i could edit the voltages etc.

so far the highest i can go i still x11 and left on 1066 fsb

if i increase it by 10, computer starts but windows logon screen doesnt appear, but i hear the sound

if i do 1086 BSOD

any ideas on i can get over 3ghz? im currently on 2.9ghz which compared to others is so crap

I have been using throttlestop 4.0 for the last few hours. you can edit the voltages, multipliers and a ton of other features.

using a ZM-NC3000U cooler and OCing at 3.7ghz and very stable

OCing also at 3.4 solid stable

going to play around with it for a while, if anyone knows of any threads about safe voltages etc for the qx9300 that would be great

Cool - give us some screen shots of what you are doing. It would be great info sharing.

cheers ..,.

Try checking out notebookreview.com. their forums have a lot of people who have oc their machines and they have posted their stable voltages and such.

Not with the specs that Trippy has winknudge.gif And at 3.7Ghz Trippy has the best OC score right here smile.gif

cpu3.7.jpg

Here is the screen print of my cpu at 3.7ghz

Today my my friend got the same cpu as me (qx93000) he also has the same notebook cooler i have zalman ZM-NC3000U.

i loaded OCCT4 and 3dmark vantage on his laptop and the temps get really high, always between 90 - 100 and this is with the cooler and the sound of the notebook fans at full speed. i had to stop it at 97 as i was pretty much crapping myself lol. my laptop did this kind of before i had my cooler and it wasnt on a good surface. any idea what the problem could be?

thx guys

Same machine and specs et al? I would review the CPU installation and check the thermal paste again first.

yep same spec only he diff is he has blu ray and i dont. he did say that he used some thermal compound he used for his xbox 360, but i had a look at the compound tube and it looks like crappy stuff, should he try some arctic silver? whats the best stuff

cheers

AS5 or IC Diamond would be my choices in thermal paste.

ok great, he ordered some AS5 and will give it a go, ill let you know what happens.

heres a vid of the temps on his laptop, as youll see the get dangerously high

It is still acceptable for many overclockers, but the fan noise as you mentioned above is disturbing winknudge.gif

no the fans noise isnt the problem, i personally can barely hear them. but the temp got up to 99deg c

isnt that dangerous? and hes using a zalman cooler

i thought anything over 90 is getting to danger temps

It is definitively warm, and can be bad over long period of time, but not totally dangerous

cheers ...
I think the chip safety downclock temp is 105 C.

just to be sure ill try the arctic silver 5 and see what kind of difference it makes.

anyone know of the correct way to apply AC5 as everyone seems to have different ideas of the correct procedure

thx guys

Take a look in the Guides Section, but for starters, one drop goes a long way. And pay attention when you put the heatsink back, go with screws sequence and DON'T over-tighten them winknudge.gif
