I'm about to order a Sony F Series custom. In Canada, the upgrade from 4GB to 8 costs $130, which seems to be quite overpriced considering the general price range of aftermarket memory. The memory type is DDR3-SDRAM-1333. Is Sony's memory proprietary in any way? Can I buy a 4GB stick of ordinary DDR3-SDRAM-1333 laptop memory for the upgrade? I'm comfortable with installing it myself since I've taken apart laptops to clean and replace components in the past. Hopefully this thread can be useful to others wondering the same thing.
