Laptop HP ENVY without sound. Help me

Thread Starter

I'm having problems with the onboard audio on my HP ENVY 17 3D. (CNF 1331JR3 Series, number LM126AV)

The onboard speaker is not working, I'm using Windows 7 64-bit ULTIMATE.
I've tried updating the driver on the internet but keep getting message that the driver is updated.
The Device Manager shows nothing wrong, no error message or exclamation points.
I installed all the updates from Windows Update.
I downloaded and installed all drivers from the manufacturer.
Only when installing the sound driver manufacturer, a error occurred, the following message: (The hardware detected is not supported by this idt software package. Installation will be aborted.)
I've tried to use drivers from other models HP ENVY but to failed.

Bios VERSION FOR F18 AND RELEASED ON 4/11/11 STILL STANDS THE PROBLEM.

Sorry for the mistakes in writing, not mastered the English language.

Clean out all the drivers related to your audio - remove the device from devices manager, restart and see if Windows can pick something up for you

I've done it, Windows automatically installs a driver, the device managereverything is normal, no errors, but no sound from the speakers.

thank you.

Did you look into the audio properties (system tray icon) and try different sources of output?

Hovering the mouse over the tray icon displays the following message: no speaker orheadset connected. There is a red X over the icon. Other options appear in the traywhen I connect the HDMI cable from the TV (works on normal TV's speakers), or when I connect an external sound card (USB) and plug in headphones.
Thank you again.

Right click on the icon, open up the audio properties - you should see a few options there, one of them might be the notebook speakers

There is no such option. Appears three options: HDMI DIGITAL AUDIO - DIGITALAUDIO HDMI, HDMI DIGITAL AUDIO. I set the option to show disabled devices anddisconnected devices. even so the speakers do not appear.

HP Support site show an IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver (2011-04-22 , Version:6.10.6328.0)

Have you tried that?

You might also want to re-install the chipset driver (from HP) again first before the audio driver

This driver (4.22.2011 Version: 6.10.6328.0) shows this error message: (The hardware detected is not supported by this idt software package. Installation will be aborted.)
Already uninstalled rebooted and installed again and again, I've done dowgrade BIOS version F15 and how not to resolve the issue returned to the updated bios version F18, since windows 7 home premium installed on another partition, I tried to install windows vista but the hardware is not accepted, have already installed several different codec packs, I have tried to solve the problem with HP support in my country helped me but not saying there is not this notebook model, they already posted threads about thisproblem in the HP forums but no one answers there. I will be forced to ask a friend totake my laptop to the U.S. and try to solve the problems there, I'll be three monthswithout a laptop but I think it will be the only solution.

Thanks.

IDT is a pain for many brands/models, not just HP alone. Before sending it away, I recommend that you give a system restore a shot - put everything back to original state (minus BIOS of course), after backing up your personal data. Windows updates are fine, but be careful when it mentions "audio"

The laptop has come to me with this problem, was with Windows7 Home Premium, I tried to install the audio driver from the manufacturer but not solved the problem.
How could not solve the problem so I decided to format the system and install W7Ultimate 64.
So do not believe that restoring factory settings would solve the problem. What do you think?

Thank you for your attention.

Interesting. This was brand new when it came to you then? Home Premium or Ultimate should not be the issue as long as you have 64-bit all along.

I still would go with a total system restore first, then upgrade to Ultimate if you want afterward. Or you can also try going into Safe Mode, uninstall the audio device/driver, restart going back into Safe Mode and re-installing the audio driver manually. At least these are the steps you can try before deciding sending it back

My friend, about 7 days I received the laptop recovery kit, I broke the customs, the kit cost $ 15, paid another $ 30 shipping to receive faster, but not said anything just screwed me, it was the custom house during 6 working days and charged me $ 40 more.
Mail EMS.

In the end, I used the kit, I did the full restore again be as it was when it came from the store, but continued without the sound of the speaker. Now with the original system and backup files, you suggest anything I can do?

And I still get that error message when trying to install the sound driverfrom the manufacturer.

Thank you!

The recovery should have everything needed to get the system sound working again, you should not have to play with "newer" audio driver.

Do you have audio when headsetr is being plugged in?

Remains the same situation, no sound from speakers and no sound on the headset, only havesound via HDMI.

Thanks.
