On Black web pages, TFT jumps around, is OK on white ones

My flatmate has a nice Fujitsu v6545 laptop, the only issue is that when the screen is displaying dark content with images or web plugins, it looks like a CRT display being thumped, the screen jumps rattles and shakes up and down and small lines appear.

I updated the driver,

i am guessing it can be video RAM issue or a power issue going into the panel? i can take it apart and have a fiddle but it is such a specific issue it should seem that there is a specific answer? thanks! laughing.gif

Hi there, the TFT image jumps up and down in the vertical plane by 1 to 3 centimeters intermittently rather than regularly, about 1 to 5 times a second, it's exactly as if it was in a car with bad suspension bumpy road, some horizontal lines appear when it jumps as the image breaks up slightly into horizontal lines. sorry i can't photograph it at the moment! i should try a screenshot to see if it is a graphics card error i guess! but i doubt it as the screenshot happens in the windows graphics overlay in software.

I had 2 pages open, http://en.battlestar-galactica.bigpoint.com/ one and a google search results page (all in text), when i flipped between the battlestar one and the google one it would jump wildly and the stop jumping completely the exact second i changed windows. also i had a high contrast notepad.exe page open which was white on black and it barely bugged at all on it. pages such as google images, flash games, and average pages with some image, php, stylesheets generally bug and arent readable. sometimes it seems calm on most pages, perhaps related to heat /movement in the laptop, and when it starts jumping, it really doesnt stop unless you click to a plain html page, she tries opening and closing the display, pressing the plastic above the keyboard, which barely relieves the bug.

Try different browser and update the flash player. Review the antivirus settings also (or use another one)

Ok i have tried a different browser, but the whole TFT Display jumps up and down, not just one program or other, the desktop jumps up and down abit too when it is having a seizure. it's not flash it's any heavy JPG etc content, the screen has a jumping seizure and it keeps on jumping abit in the desktop, although some pages are completely stable like white pages... As you surely know, black screens use alot more polarisation than white which is the LCD "off" state.

I turned the antivirus off.

it doesnt look like a hardware problem, and actually that reply made me laugh but i tested the suggestions.

Next "laughable" reply coming up winknudge.gif

. Try the system in Safe Mode
. Try the system also with an external monitor

i didnt manage to get it to an external monitor as didnt have leads, but took off the screen surrounds, bezel, and keyboard, and she uses it with the keboard unclipped from the laptop and it never jumps anymore, she sais it is the ribbon cable under the keyboard that conncet the lcd to the mainboard/gfx, the next to the molex although i didnt verify this.

If that is the case, I would go for another keyboard or at least trying to reset the old one - carefully, the ribbon is thin and the contact can be flimpsy at times, and verify that the keyboard ribbon hold down works.
