The gpu on my laptop shows a temperatue that starts around 70-80 and reaches around 105 and shuts down when using an s external display with hdmi. i've recently reapplyed thermal paste withouth getting result. it also seems to  do fine in gaming. Is this a common problem for this laptop? btw i have single geforce gtx260m attached.

Are you using a different (higher) resolution with external display when this shutdown occurs? Happening just by itself, or in any particular situations?

Your OS? GPU Driver?

Yeah, i found out what the problem was.. pretty stupid of me not noticing that the new fan i installed before summer wasn't spinning. had plugged in its power upside down.
