Alien Head Logo on back of LCD display White, can't change color MX11 R2, normal?

Title says it all.

I purchased a used Mx11 R2 a few weeks ago from a friend. Computer runs great (after I switched out the crappy DW1520 wireless card).

I can't change the color of the ailenware logo on the back side of the LCD screen. Is this typical?

Just wondering if I should be able to or not.

Thanks

Don't think you can change it by default, but you can always mod the leds winknudge.gif

Yes that is by design, since they are smaller laptops, the m11x and m14x do not have a separate light module for the alien head logo on the display's lid, they get the illumination from the screen's backlighting. The larger m15x, m17x, and Area-51 m15x R1 (silver plastic pre-DELL designed that also had the light pipe) all have independent alien head logo that can be modified with AlienFX settings.

Wanted to add...

I thought they got the illumination from the display backlighting, but I read from a reply on this post and from other websites that they can be modded by changing out the led that is used to light up the alien head logo on the m11x and m14x. I've never opened up any of these models so I don't know myself. But from the AlienFX software on both that I own, there is no option to adjust the color or effect on them.

So if you don't like the standard white, modding them by opening up the laptop cover and changing out the led to another color would be the only way. But then you are still stuck with a single color that can only be changed by doing that all over again, so I am not sure I would bother going through all that for myself. If it ain't broken...
