It's contest time again at NotebookForums, and we have another great one for you. Our friends at Intel have provided an SSD to give away to one lucky NotebookForums members. Intel has shared with us the details about the SSD:

224

“The Intel 320 Series SSD offers better performance, built-in data protection features, larger capacities and more value for your money. Created with 25-nanometer Intel NAND Flash Memory, the Intel SSD 320 Series accelerates PC responsiveness. With sequential read performance of up to 270 megabytes per second (MB/s), your PC will handle demanding applications and multitasking needs.”

One NotebookForums user will win a 120GB 320 Series SSD just for answering the questions below:

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

Good luck! Winner will be randomly selected after 12/31/11. Only replies with answers to all of the questions will be considered for entry. Qualifying entries must reside in either US or Canada (excluding Quebec).

We have a winner! Congratulations to FastM!

Alright, I'll give it a go.

1. Brand of SSD I'm considering:
official answer ---> OCZ
detailed answer --> 2-horse race between Intel and OCZ.

2. What am I looking for:
official answer --> Performance
detailed answer --> Between these three choices, performance. Really though, reliability followed by performance.

Not sure if legit, but here it goes:

1) I like Intel's SSD's. I've had good success with mine.

2) I like reliability. My Crucial SSD has some issues with reliability.

1. OCZ

2. Reliability above any of those qualities listed. SSDs generally perform better than traditional drives, and price isn't a huge issue to me considering the performance gain. I am waiting to enter the SSD world once they become more reliable.

1. OCZ (I already have the Agility 3 60GB)
2. Performance and reliability.

Just so everyone knows, this contest IS legit. It's being run by Huddler.

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?

Intel, my 5th will be another 320 series actually.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

Brand, reliability (I realize reliability was not a choice)

Oh and if I win it goes to darq.

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?

-- Intel, OCZ, Kingston. I have 2 OCZs and 2 Kingstons. The OCZs have done well for me, I haven't gotten the Kingstons installed yet (just got them yesterday)

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

I agree with the others that my main concern is reliability, but since that's not one of the criteria I'll answer with Performance first and Price second.

Intel, probably.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

Combination of price, performance and reliability.

not looking at any specific brand, will be based on whichever ends up meeting the criteria at the time

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

would be the best performance for the lowest price

Samsung 830 Series

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

For me it's always a combination of all of these elements. I would choose the Samsung because of this Laptopmag SATA III SSD showdown. I try to look at everything before buying.

OCZ or Intel. I've heard good things about both.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?
Performance/Price.

Like some of the others, I look at reliability first. It could be an amazing drive, but it has to be replaced every few months I'll look elsewhere.

w00t! Love this.

I own a few OCZ drives already. My original 120 GB vertex drive failed on me recently in my desktop. Luckily OCZ had a three year warranty on it and they sent me an upgraded Vertex II drive. Their customer service has been great so I'd stick with them.

Performance is key. I want something that can read and write above 200 MB/sec. That would be ideal for a boot drive.

I'm still not sure if mods & admins are eligible, but since everyone else is putting in their 2 cents' worth, I might as well join in too.

My next SSD purchase is likely to be from Intel or Crucial. Intel has the best reputation for reliability and Crucial uses the same NAND as Intel and tends to have better price/performance ratios than most other companies.

Like others, I look for reliability and performance. I put reliability first because if my data isn't accessible, it doesn't matter how fast it can be read and written!

Doesnt really matter

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?
price and performance

#1 Intel
#2 mostly speed i guess
  1. Whomever is fastest. most reliable, and is a good value at the time I purchase. If it were right now, probably a Kingston HyperX.
  2. As said above -- "Whomever is fastest. most reliable, and is a good value at the time I purchase." Brand doesn't mean anything to me.
