I like Intel's SSD's, for me it's about a combination of Price and performance.
1. I prefer Intel first and Samsung second, just based on reliability and the experiences of friends and colleagues.

2. Price first, because they are incredibly pricy compared to HDDs. Brand second, because reliability can be an issue with SSDs. Performance third, because I'm not a min/maxer, and the differences in performance between SSDs is minimal compared to the performance jump going from an HDD to an SSD.

1. Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?

I have no preference at this time as to which brand of SSD I purchase.

2. What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

              Performance followed by price.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

PERFORMANCE ( not just speed but device lifespan as well )

OCZ. It has the highest average ratings on newegg

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

A combination. You need to make a tradeoff between price and performance. A good mix of the two is good. As long as it's reliable, brand isn't much of an issue.

1. OCZ since that's what I currently have, works well, great price.

2. Price, but only after checking user reviews for the specific model. Intel seems to get excellent reviews, but more expensive.

At the moment I'm considering Intel and OCZ.

Performance and reliability above all else. Brand after that and price a distant third.

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade?

Intel would certainly be one of my top picks, I would review the specs and latest developments of all major mfg. as technology is an ever changing landscape, and
new features are almost a daily occurrence.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD?

Overall performance. SSD are very fast, and while it might seem easy to simply pick by published or even tested specs, reliability and customer support can be
more important in the long run.

1. Intel

2. Price and Performance. But most importantly, reliability.

Thanks for the contest.

I'd have to say OCZ would be my choice right now although I'd take a look at the current offerings at the time.

I hate to say it but Price is a major factor. I would rather say "value" or price/performance. For critical data I have a RAID 6 hardware controller. I wouldn't use an SSD thus reliability isn't a /major/ factor. Then again, if it is failing then it isn't worth anything to me... As for performance, well, it better be performing better than my current setup.

1. I'm considering an Intel or Crucial m4, primarily out of concern for reliability with an OCZ

2. A nice balance between price and performance, like for most people, is important to me. Since this is a once-in-3-years purchase, I guess I'd lean slightly towards performance since I don't want to upgrade again in a year.
1. Patriot
2. Performance first then a combination of other features.

1. Crucial and samsung

2. price is MOST important, followed by the most reliable/top rated on newegg.

1. Intel. I currently have an Intel SSD and has been nothing but reliable.
2.Price and performance are the most important
post #136 of 704
For notebook use.
1) Looking at Intel & OCZ

2) Reliability and Performance are the important criteria in that order.
============================================================
For use in a desktop:
1) Same brands Intel and OCZ.

2) Performance then price. I keep a mirror copy of the main drive and so am covered for reliability.

1. Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?

ANSWER: I'll purchase the best SSD at the time.

2. What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

ANSWER: Performance but with a Price bias.
1) Brand is not a big issue as long as honest price and reliability are guaranteed. I would go for any of the mentioned brands except Samsung (bad experiences in the past).

2) Combination of price and reliability ....and size. I am waiting for 256 Gb to become more affordable!

1. I have two Crucials (C300 and M4) and both work perfectly. I would stay with them due to my experience and the reported experience of others.

2. Selection criteria is a combination of all three - price, performance, and brand. Doesn't have to be the best in any category but can't be the worst, either. Got my Crucials on sale so it was about the best of all three categories.
