1. Brand of SSD I'm considering:
OCZ, or Crucial.

2. What am I looking for:
Reliability, followed by Performance... at a "reasonable" cost.
1. I use only Intel SSDs. Unless Intel becomes nonviable for reliability or performance reasons, I will stick with Intel for their vastly superior reliability. Approximately 50% of the people I know with OCZ SSDs have had drive failures or major compatibility issues.

2. One would think performance would be the top issue, and normally it would be for me as well, but the reliability of non Intel SSDs is so abysmal, it has become my top priority. On the other hand, Intel is clearly lagging in performance, even of uncompressible data. Hoping they come up with a new in house controller technology soon, as it would be nice to have my cake and eat it too. My priority is reliability, performance, price, brand, in decending order.

Interesting that the survey question speaks nothing about the reliability issue.

1. Probably Samsung, Intel or Kingston.

2. Looking for a good balance between speed and price, but to be honest, whoever hits that $1/gb (MSRP, not some wild deal at a distributor) mark first will probably get my purchase.

1. Intel
2. Reliability followed by performance

ANSWER Q1. I will choose INTEL. INTEL is providing reliable performance all these years.

ANSWER Q2. Reliable performance always come first for my decision. Extra features will be a
bonus to me.

  1. Intel, Kingston, Samsung ... whichever has lowest price.
  2. I want an SSD that is fast.?

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?

- I would go for a OCZ

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

- I'm looking for the perfect combination between price and performance.

1) Q: Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade?
A: Crucial. Then, and significantly farther: Samsung, then Intel

2) Q: What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?
A:
  1. 1st, RELIABILITY. I have no experience in SSD, but in RAM I have relied on Crucial for a decade with 100% success, always perfect service, their announcements (from compatibility to postal delivery including everything else inbetween) are somewhat restraint, so they are always exactly and totally fulfilled at delivery.
  2. 2nd, COMPATIBILITY.
  3. 3rd, PRICE
  4. 4th, PERFORMANCE

I've just bought an Intel X18-M to be used for my next upgrade, so that Intel is the answer.

RELIABILITY.

I bought the X18-M because it's an older design (it's the old 50nm G1 version) that's been used in thousands of PCs and it seems to be reliable. That matters far more to me than performance (although it's still fast compared to any desktop HDD) or brand (brand doesn't bother me at all as long as it's reliable).

Price is a factor, of course. The X18-M was cheap for what it offered. I wouldn't have bothered upgrading to anything much more expensive.

So, in order of importance:

(1) Reliability, because an unreliable SSD is substantially worse than no SSD at all.

(2) Price, because if it's too expensive I won't bother to buy one.

(8) Performance. Obviously more performance is nice, but realistically I'm happy with anything that beats a 3.5" 7200RPM HDD.

(9) Brand. The only reason I see to buy from a major brand is because it'll be easier to keep track of reliability. If a smaller/unknown brand can prove that its SSDs beat out the bigger brands on pricing and reliability, I'll happily buy those.

1. Intel

2. Price
1. Don't have a specific brand in mind, but OCZ seems to be good value.

2. Mainly I'm concerned about price and performance.

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade?
Intel: Have several earlier Intel SSD's and have been happy with them minus the issue I have with the Sodacreek drive completely DOA.
Samsung: Have several Samsungs through Dell, not as happy with them but they still work.
OCZ: I have an OCZ Vertex2 which is decent drive as well.
Plextor: Remembering these from my youth and lookin with interest to see how it performs
I was holding off on my next purchase to see what the new batch of drives are doing.

Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?
Price, Performance, Reliability are what I look at. Brand honestly does not hold as much sway on me.
1. Intel or OCZ! If I read good things about the others then I may choose them as well!

2. Price and Performance!
I have been considering an ocz vertex 3 max Iops 120gb or a Patriot Wildfire 120gb.

1. Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Samsung, Corsair

2. What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price & Performance, much of my decision would be made based on reviews

Thanks!

Which brand SSD ? İntel

What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Performance offcourse
post #299 of 704
When shopping for SSDs before, I had my eyes set on the Crucial RealSSD but recently read they've switched controllers so I'm considering both the Crucial or OCZ.

I settled on those two brands since they seem to have the best performance but didn't cost an insane amount. Very seldom do I consider brand when it comes to things like this as performance numbers and customer reviews speak louder than a label.

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?

I am only considering Intel SSD's for my next upgrade because I've had great experiences with the two I already have.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

I look for combining the elements of price, performance and brand, generally weighing performance as the most important, where I care more about the SSD's ability to quickly load the operating system than about whether it is large enough or fast enough for media files. I regard price as being somewhat important to justify the upgrade itself, but if I can find a drive large enough for my needs that is under the price elbow, I'm inclined to buy. Brand matters to me because it generally reflects a particular design/science/engineering approach. When I was originally shopping for my SSD's, Intel seemed to care more about how to make them so they performed well, rather than merely trying to increase the storage size without regard to performance.
