It'll likely be between Intel, Samsung, and OCZ unless I see a good sale on a Crucial or Kingston to get it into the same price/performance area.

1) I am currently in the market for a new SSD. Crucial and Intel are at the top of the list.

2) Performance and reliability are the primary criteria I'm using in selecting my SSD.

OCZ, see next question:
2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?
Price and performance, and it usually ends up being OCZ because they have the best balance between the two.

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other? It is a toss up between Intel and Kingston.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements? I am going to echo others with reliability followed by performance. If it doesn't do what it is supposed to do price and brand don't really matter.

1) Intel or Crucial

2) stability, performance (speed), good user reviews, good customer service reports, a monitored users forum, timely firmware updates, size, price

Hi,

Interesting and great competition idea!

Answers:

1. I am not committed to any brand. I am open minded and tend to read reviews on performance vs price.

2. I am a power user, as I use 3D CAD in my consultantancy www.thebigconsultant.com as a Product Designer. So, speed is essential for performance on large 3D simulations and computational analysis, but price is often an over-riding concern and part of the decision making. I like to select a balance between performance and price, and also consider reliability very important.

Many thanks, John Biddleston

Brand of SSD I'm considering: Intel - I feel that Intel has a more reliable system with better support, however, OCZ and Crucial are runners up.

What am I looking for: Reliability first, with performance second. A really, really fast drive is only as useful as its stability. It doesn't help me much that the drive is the fastest on the market if I can't use the computer half the time.

1. I dont have a specific or favorite brand I'm considering.

2. Since reliability wasn't a choice, I look for a combination of the elements.

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade?

Start with OCZ, then compare specs across brands.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

Performance/Price ratio. But there is a cutoff where price is more important than performance smile.gif

1. Intel (NEVER, NEVER, again OCZ)

2. A combination of these elements is crucial.

Thanks!

I'll bite.

1. Intel

2. Combination of all three, but - Performance, Price, Brand in that order.

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade? Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other?
--> 1.) Intel & Samsung

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?
--> 2.) Brand (specifically for reputation & reliability) and then the most bang for my buck in terms of performance for the price
post #57 of 704

1. Intel

2. if i have to choose one... Performance!

1. I'm considering OCZ and Crucial. Intel drives are great, but not worth the price premium, in my opinion.

2. Brand is important to me, but only inasmuch as it signifies reliability.  I only put brands into two categories, ones I'll buy from, and ones I won't.  If a different brand on the "yes" list has a better price for the performance and capacity, I'll buy that one.

1) Intel
2) Performance/price

1.Which brand SSD are you considering for your next upgrade?

As much as everyone looks at performance numbers, reliability lead me to Intel. Already have a X25-G2 160GB. Will look forward to more Intels.

2.What do you look for when selecting an SSD? Price, Performance, Brand - or a combination of these elements?

Reliability is first, price and performance next.
