No sound on Alienware Area-51m 766

Hi, I recently had to install a new hard drive and reinstall windows on my computer and seem to be having problems with my sound.
I've found all my drivers and they seem to be working properly, but when I try to play a sound nothing ever comes out. Have any of you encountered this problem or know of a fix? Any help would be much appreciated.

Does it work with headset?

Had a weird issue with W7 on my M5500i-r3.

Sound from speakers, Windows HD Audio driver saw the Sp/DIFF jack but plugging in external speakers or headphones gave me no sound. I found that the hardware is Realtek, downloaded the Realtek driver from their website, rebooted, and now have much better sound from the internal speakers, and the headphone jack now works.

Worth a try? YMMV......
