Question about reinstalling Windows 7 on a HD with data still intact

Thread Starter
A couple of weeks ago and I don't know how it happened, Windows 7 somehow locked up on my Samsung laptop and when I rebooted it, I got the message "Operating System Not Found".

Fortunately, after placing the hard drive in a spare caddy, I found that the data on it was safe and I've managed to backup most of the stuff that i needed to back up onto one of my external hard drives (I'm currently having issues with my other one).

I've been sent a copy of Windows 7 (64-bit) on DVD to install on the hard drive, but at the same time, I need some advice on how I can do a reinstall instead of a brand-new 'install and delete everything else' job.

I've installed Windows in the past on a fresh hard drive, but I've never done an reinstall before.

Any advice is gratefully appreciated...

Once you got the disk, boot it up and go through the installation, the OS might recongnize the previous installation and opting out for a system repair instead

cheers ...
