LET ME MAKE DUMB MY NOTEBOOK!

Hi guys i have a problem with my notebook: it's to much noisy! That's because it has an high cpu temperature (never less than 68!!!) so the fans have to go very quickly doing a very stressfull noise. that's since i bougth it. it's a Pentium IV 3.4 GHZ,so a powerfull mono cpu inside a tiny space. I'm going to think if it's a good idea to reduce the clock: reducing clock i should reduce the temperature and the speed fans too: what do you think about? i have to mention that i don't need that cpu power. And could you tell me how to do a down clock? Or have others good ideas? i tried with speedfun i can't get up how it works... please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try NHC (notebook hardware control) and see if you can throttle the CPU. Might also help if you replace the thermal paste and finding another quieter fan assembly.

Thanks, just tried but it can't control my cpu (doesn't works...) . i tried several similar softwares too: no one can reduce my cpu clock by energetic changing! I think the unique solution is to change the voltage, maybe from bios. What do you think about?

Nope, I personally stay away from messing with BIOS on notebooks. Go for a quieter fan assembly, they might something that would fit your comp.

Can you strip the heatsink and fan out, clean it, esp the dust between the fan and the blades of the heatsink, also scrape the old heat paste off the CPU and heat sink and replace it..?

Try running it with power saving scheme, finding another fan replacement or ... if you brave enough, drop some graphite in the fan bearing area. Notebook cooler might help sometimes.

i use to use my notebook for web mainly since i bought it; no graphic works,no music or video works, no games, just some bidimensionl movies, so it should be ever in power safing or rougly that...in fact when i stop to use it and after a few minutes starts the screen saving and others power saving things, the temperature of cpu and hard disk don't change their values. it ever goes between 68-69 for cpu and 37-38 for the disk. that's a little temperature change to let the fans' speed decrease... isn't that??

cheers

Touchy temp handling for sure. Any BIOS updates floating out there for your model? I use to bore small holes (2mm) at the bottom around the fan area on my Sager and it sure did help somewhat.

so that,it doesn't let me handle anything about temperature.neither in Bios (updated).
