Can anybody tell me how to get around this problem please? When i plug HDMI into my TV,  the screen on my desktop goes off as expected. I would like to know if there is a way to get the desktop back on with a keyboard keystroke. The only way i know at the moment is to either unplug the HDMI connector or selecting it of on the TV screen.

Ctrl+Shift+F11 should bring up the intel graphics utility. then set output to clone.

can also try Fn+F5 and see if you can set output options that was as well.
