Oh man I can't download MM4.exe... can someone upload it? Is this better then Omega driver?

I recommend the DH Mod Tool from here for modifiying the Catalyst drivers. Supports the 9700 now.

Yeah I would used that too but I always get a Run-Time error and then crash the program. What should I do?
I don't know .. I've never got that error running the DH Mod Tool

I use Patje's mod tool, and it installed without a problem. Aquamark is still constant at 27600 so I'm not complaining.

Hi, the actual error msg I am getting is
"Run-Time error '-2147024770 (8007007e)':

automation error
the specified module could not be found.
"

So yeah hmm oh well.. I used the other Mod, hopefully it's the same. However, should I wait for Omega?

So using desktop drivers on a laptop does what? Better performance ? support for certain games you might be having trouble with ? Not sure i see the point ..
They are more up-to-date than Dell driver releases and thus offer the latest performance increases and game fixes.
Personally I will wait for the Omega 4.5 release.

Re:

Hi, guys. I d/led the driver and the control panel installs from the ATI link above. I installed the updated control panel fine but when I try to install the driver, it errors with "INF Driver not found" then says I should install a generic driver before installing. Any ideas?

Ensure that the drivers that you downloaded have been run and use one of the mod tools such as patje's mod tool (the one I used) to mod the driver.ini file so it will recognize the mobility 9700. You can get the driver mod tool at www.driverheaven.net/patjePatjes mod tool

Don't know if you tried it, but use the control panel add remove programs and use the ati uninstall utility to remove the control panel and ati drivers, just run it once, and reboot the computer. When the computer restarts it should detect your card, and ask you for drivers. Cancel out of this. Then go into the c:/ati/support/what ever your driver version is and run the setup.exe file. This will install the control panel, display driver.

Hope this helps.

Anyone else find you get slower benchmarks with the Cat 4.5 drivers than with Dell's? I had 3431 with Dell's drivers, and 3303 with Cat 4.5. Is it just me or is this normal?

I didn't bench the CAT 4.5's but it seemer slower in Far Cry so I'm back to the 4.4's.

Re:

I used that tool and it said it modded the files, but I still couldn't install. I will try uninstalling.
