Hi,

I accidentally disabled both my screen and monitor for my acer travelmate 800, i have a radion 9000 graphics card.

i know where to go change it back but cant see to navigate there and cant remember how many clicks with the key board, its when i right click on the desk top and go to graphics, does anybody have an idea of wat to do please?

Thanks :)

Keep hitting F8 at start and see if you can blindly get into Safe Mode.

i can get into bios, but my pc wont start in safe mode, i've left it loading for over a day, i can see the bios and the windows start up screen, but the setting i changed causes windows to disable both monitor and my screen. im not sure why i cant start it in safe mode, i've never done it before.

I really appreciate your interest

Thank You

Are you able to get the F8 menu...if so select "last know good configuration"..just curious, what were you trying to accomplish when you disabled the monitor settings?????

hi, yes i can get into f8 menu, but it does nothing when i click last know good configuration, i tried that too.

I was trying to set up my pc, so that when the tv is on the pc screen goes off, nd vice versa, i accidentally put the pc screen off too while the tv was in off mode, now both are off, it was the 1st time i connected a pc to the tv, my girlfriends is working fine, but i tried to be too clever with my own :(

thanks for your help too, any other suggestions?

(i recently formatted my harddrive and put a new windows on, i didnt bother making a restore point, thats why i think yr suggestion's not working either)

Give this a shot ...

Remove the battery, disconnect ac adapter, press down the power button for 30-40secs, disconnect/connect the external monitor again via the vga port.

i now disconnected my pcs monitor while it was running, hoping that windows will recognise a new device, still nothing, i dont know why it doesnt load in safe mode, theres a very quick prompt while safe mode starts saying press enter if i wana continue, it runs a few lines after that, but it does the same if i just leave it, im trying to start in safe mode by f10 this time, ill wait a day to see if it starts up. i was really hoping that when my xp disc arrives, that it will recognise it, and display the disc, now that it doesnt, im now even more dissapointed!

Is there a way to get into my pc with an ethernet cable or something? remembering that i cant see anything to allow any access from a foreign pc....

Get ahold of a Linux CD, boot it up from there and see the screen can be recognized and reactivated

Wonderful news. Once it gets back up, make sure you make a good system backup. Check around the forum for drivers also.

Hi again qhn,

Im in serious trouble now, i formatted my pc 3 times already now!

(my info is still safe somewhere)

it is now so slow! i got drivers from the acer website, i dont know what im doing wrong, i get everything working, but its very slow now, i dont think it can be a hard ware problem coz nothing else has changed!

i had trouble the 1st time, it sais i must insert service pack 2 cd, i tried my disk, no luck, i down loaded it to my 8gig stick, it works now, very slow, but i cant format my stick iether!

do you have any idea wat im doing wrong?

i deleted the only partition i had, started fresh, now my pc is too sad for words!!

its mainly the internet thats slowing it down, thought it was my mcafee antivirus, so i tried again with out it, still the same.

I think i need a step by step on how to format my pc and how to get the right drivers on, in wat order and anything else that i may have missed.

i tried my best not to have to ask you again, but, alas, im lost!!

sorry, but thanx if you can have a look for me please.

Doug...

At this stage I would recommend a replacement hard drive and start with a fresh OS installation. As far as antivirus concerns, give MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) a shot. It's free and very good in system resource handling, and safe.
