thx
It's always a good idea to clean install with SSDs, as Windows 7 recognizes SSDs and has certain optimizations in the install process for them. These optimizations won't take place if you simply copy a disk image to the SSD, leaving you to do them yourself. And while there are tools that allow you to do such things, it's just easier to clean install and let Microsoft do them for you.
I don't have a G74 specifically, but the install process for an SSD is very simple in most systems. You just have to find the hard drive, take it out, and put the SSD in its place. I replaced the hard drive with an SSD in my Eee 1001P netbook, which arguably is one of the more annoying systems to upgrade in that manner. Most computers have the hard drive somewhere where it's easily accessible.
