Acer Aspire 5335 New CPU

Thread Starter

I have an Acer Aspire 5335. Upon purchasing it, I replaced the single core with a  Celeron Dual Core T3000 . I'm wondering if there's a faster processor that will work in this laptop. I've read that a Core 2 Duo may work, but no one seems to be certain. Can anyone verify this, or offer any other suggestions? Thank you.

Well, I found out that my laptop uses the Intel GL40 chipset, which according to what I've found *should* support a Core 2 Duo, or not, depending on what site you're on. The Intel site with the information I need is temporarily unavailable. It seems though that people have mixed results with upgrading the processor in these laptops. Ahh, I just love it when all information seems to conflict no matter what...

Any news on this? I own an Acer Aspire 5335 notebook.

contrary to the acer service manual its a GL40 667mhz chipset and not the GS45 as it states.

Also there is a bios update from 1.08 to 1.10 but not had the balls to use it yet.

I can say for certain that the core 2 duo t7200 will not work even though it is 667fsb

Cheers

Any particular fix on the BIOS version? If not I would leave it alone. I haven't read or heard anything about the T7200 would work on this model either

I've also unearthed a modified bios rom that will allow frequency manipulation but no mention of a cpu whitelist. got a t3400 pentium dual core coming which whilst I hope it fits I'd prefer the core2duo as they run much cooler
