laptop randomly turns off during game play

Hi everyone. I just recently bought an Asus N55SF 

 

 

  • Win7 Home Premium 64Bit Operating System
  • Intel® Core i7 2630QM 2Ghz (Turbo 2.9G)/6M Processor
  • 8GB DDR3-1333 (2 DIMM Max 8GB) Memory
  • 750GB Hard Drive
  • 2GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M (N12E-GE2)

 

My problem is that the laptop randomly shuts off within 5 minutes of playing a game (Portal 2). This happened the day after I bought it. I don't understand what could be wrong seeing as its a new laptop. This is also a legit copy of Portal 2 purchased off Steam.

Try a benchmark that strains your hardware or another game to check if it's a hw problem or just that specific game.
