getting ERROR when trying to update driver Intel HD Graphics Family

I have got switchable graphics on my HP Pavilion dv6-6159tx laptop and I updated the AMD Radeon 6770M driver successfully. But when I try to update the Intel HD Graphics driver, it's giving loads of errors for updating!

When I check Device Manager>Display Adapters>Intel HD Graphic Family, I see the same driver version and date of release as that shown for AMD Radeon 6770M !... how is this possible??... can anyone help me out please??

UPDATE: I just talked to a guy at www.hp.com, and according to him my Intel HD graphic might me problematic that's why it's not updating the driver, is this correct? Then howcome the AMD Radeon 6770M got updated without a glitch ??

It is not that the Intel Graphic might give you problem - but not all new drivers would install or work with the gpu. If the card does not give you any performance issue, there is no need for drivers update. Notebook GPUs are not the same as desktops that one can just update it to any newer drivers.

so how can I fix this issue? (screen becoming unresponsive sometimes when the fan speed is at its highest) I have noticed that when I'm on Radeon 6770M,  this problem does not occur, but switching to Intel HD graphic card cause this issue

See if there is new Intel chipset driver for your model. Also, did this problem occur when you were on the "old" Radeon 6770M that came with the machine?

What apps were you running?

Yes, before I upgraded the AMD Radeon driver, it was working fine.

This is what I was afraid of sad.gif

Are your stock drivers older than the ones from the link? Pick any of the 2 Intel chipset drivers and see if it works. Always making sure that you perform a system restore point before any drivers and software installation.

well this version I already have installed: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-100080-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=5172168&sw_lang=

The stock version were older that's why I upgraded the AMD Radeon driver since it was giving me issues before as well. To let you know I did a Factory reset because was getting BSOD caused by some driver and that problem was solved.

Does your machine come with some sort of HP automatic update management? This would resolve issues of incompatibility and un-needed drivers update

I have HP Recovery Manager which tells me which drivers need updating and there it shows update for Intel HD Graphic Family but when I click install, it says the driver is not properly uninstalled from your computer, please uninstall it then install it fresh. And when I try to uninstall the driver from Device Manager>Display Adapter, it doesn't get installed and once the screen went black!

Restore your comp, then try using this Intel utility for its related drivers update

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics

Or using Windows update itself and see if it can detect the Intel driver update from there.

As mentioned above, what apps were you using that caused the unresponsive screen? Have you disabled all un-needed startup processes and services? Try using another antivirus tool?
