Laptop not throttling when not in OS

Just joined cause I have a question. I just bought some Ram, and my laptop is freezing up more. Not sure if its ram or heat (i7 laptop, gets ~175°). I am sitting at my bios cause my pc hates booting via CD. I was dinking aroujd on another pc getting usb memtest going and noticed my pc gets very loud at the bios. It is as if it is not underclocking as it does in an OS.
Is this normal?

Dont think its specific to my system:
Asus n53JQ XV1 (i think), 12GB of ram. Tried googling it, but results are for disabling throttling and stuff. I cannot change throttling settings in this laptop, not am i interested in it. Memtest is running but is very warm...

If you remove the installed ram, would it run better? Why the need for more ram?

cheers ...

Im buying ram now ehile its cheap. Buying old ram when its ddr4 or 5 makes it way too expensive, plus I can run VM's and turn off page filing. It runs fine under windows, except for freezing (no bsod). Im asking about the bios /non OS heat.

When you are in BIOS screen, the fan once turned on will not throttle down - BIOS can't manage fan and heat management on its own - need software for that. Still hitting 175C is quite hot

Thats what it hits before it really throttles down. I cant see my temp via bios. But the fan will gradually speed up as it heats up quickly.

Take out the extra ram and see if you have the same issue in BIOS

Ram wouldn't have anything to do with heating in BIOS. The ram has nothing to do with this. Its like the processor will not underclock (turboboost)

I would agree, but it is always worth to double-check ... low quality/non-compatible ram modules can contribute to system heating up. Take you 2 mintues to check, what's to lose?

cheers ...
