Best Barebones Kit for the Core 2 Duo T5800 CPU I've already got?

My HP DV-1170 US needs a new MB due to heating. It turns out this is a common issue that these HP's are notorius for, but I missed the recall and no warranty. As it stands now I can either dump 250 bucks into this to resurrect what is a great laptop specs-wise or...

I was thinking I could find comparable barebones system that I could put the Intel Core2 Duo T5800 in and the 4GB of DDR2 Ram into with decent gaming performance? I'm looking to run current games, but not at high settings necessarily. Stuff like SWTOR, Skyrim and a bunch of older games.

Is this worth even looking into or am I better off paying the 250 for the MB repair?

Bake the board first winknudge.gif Search the forum for bake/baking ... does not hurt to give it a try before doling out $$$

And if that does not work out, sell your notebook for parts (take it apart first) and use the $$ to get a good 2nd hand gaming system out there.

cheers ...
