Sager 5791 - Bad 7950 GTX

Thread Starter
I have a 5791 with a 7950 gtx 512mb card, vbios is 51.09. I have started getting artifacts on the screen, both in Windows XP and also during POST. I hooked up to an external HDMI connection and saw the same POST artifacts on the external display. According to Sager, they do not have access to this card anymore. I see that there is one on ebay that was pulled working from a Sager 9261. According to the picture, the used card is the same card, but the vbios is an earlier version (45.16). Sager tech support said that I would not be able to use the card without flashing the vbios to what I have now, but they did not know how I could do it as my display would not be working. Please let me know how I can accomplish this, as it looks like I can't find another card with the same vbios version currently.

Bake your defective card ... Search the forum for "bake baking" Might be able to extend the notebook's life until you can get a newer one

cheers ...
