Weird problem with text showing in Windows 7 (mainly on certain websites)

A few days ago, my laptop locked up on me and I got the "Operating System Not Found" message.

What I did was take out the hard drive like I did the previous time I got the same message and did a Repair Install which fixed the relevant files in Windows 7.

Now I have a new problem in that unlike the previous occasion I had to do a Repair Install, I have an unusual one on that the text on various websites like Evernote and Anime News Network look weird!

In the screen shot, it clearly shows that the text has somehow been muddled up to such an extent that I can hardly tell the difference between regular text and link text.

I've never had a problem like this before when doing an Repair Install and I confess I don't know what to do to fix it.

Try with another browser and see. Or remove and re-install Firefox

The browser I'm using in the screenshot is Chrome, but I take it that if I uninstall and reinstall it, that should work?

Doesn't hurt. Try another version or another browser also and see

I've tried viewing the Anime News Network website in IE, but IE being the piece of crap that it is, wouldn't let me view the site properly, even in Compatability View (and this is in IE8!)

I'm going to try Firefox although I believe it was Firefox being opened alongside Chrome that may have caused the original problem.

EDIT: It seems that most of the text except for headings has disappeared on the Siliconera website and it seems to be related to the same problem!

I've also downloaded an offline version of Chrome so that I can reinstall it and will do the same with Firefox as well.

I've discovered that the problem may lie with Firefox as I tried to open it with the tabs that I had opened previously before I had to do the Repair Reinstall.

What should I do next once I've uninstalled Firefox then rebooted it then after that uninstall Chrome then reboot again?

Why not just uninstall both of them browsers at the same time and perform one reboot? winknudge.gif

I uninstalled them and did separate reboots. With Chrome, for some weird reason it's removed all my Apps except for Download Accelerator Pro.

On another note, I still have the same problem as before with the text on Chrome being all muddled and not showing upon certain websites.

Will test Firefox after posting this..

EDIT: Still having problems with Firefox after reinstalling it (installed the latest version). I confess I'd never had any problems with Firefox until now...

UPDATE: I sent off my laptop for repair last month as it ended up having a BSOD crash which made me worry that it was going to break down overall.

I only just got it back today because they supposedly couldn't get in touch with me on the 1st of this month to have it delivered and it seems that even though it works properly, I'm still having the same problem with the missing text in Chrome and IE (I tested it on http://www.siliconera.com and the text in various areas doesn't show up), but things seem to be OK in Firefox. What I don't get is why am I still having the problem with the missing text in IE/Chrome and not Firefox?

I have no issue with FF (nightly) / IE 8 / Chrome 19 Beta on my comps with the mentioned test link ...

I have the same issue with my Dell 1525 laptop, my chrome will display the weird text. I have to fix it with the help of google but unable to find the solution.

So i call the technician for the help, they provide help for Virus Removal remotely.

After couple of minutes they said me it fixed. i try to reopen it & guess what it fixed i don't know how......really awesome.
