waking the laptop when lid is opened?

i usually sleep my laptop by closing down the lid, but when i open it, i have to press a button (space, power etc) to wake it up.

i have seen my friends with a macbook that wakes up instantly when the lid is up, is it possible to achieve on my acer aspire 4552 laptop?

thx :D

My bad for overlooking the model in your OP.

Don't think that you can do with an Acer, but you can try using "do nothing when lid closes" and set the sleep timer, then waking it up by allowing the mouse to bring it out of sleep

well, i can make it sleep by closing the lid, so the do nothing when the lid closes and the sleep timer wont be of any use, is there an application to wake the laptop when the lid is opened? if it can sense the lid close, it should be able to sense it open..

I am not aware of any 3rd party utility that would take the notebook out of sleep when lid opens. It must be BIOS or chipset driver related, meaning depending on the notebook manufacturers
