m17x r1 wifi quiting

Thread Starter

I recently aquired this m17x. it came with vista. i installed a ssd drive and installed windowx 7 ut.

Things were working great till i did a windows update and now the wifi will quit working after a reboot.

The wifi icon will start to show a connection avaiable then go to red x. clicking in the wifi shows nothing accessable.

I can go to Device Manager  and del the driver for the wifi. reboot and the wifi card will reinstall.

It will work fine till next shutdown. Then I have to uninstall and restart again if I want to use the wifi.

I have tryed different dirvers with no sucess.   Please HELP.

Have you tried letting Windows update finding the appropriate driver for you?

I know it's an older thread, but wanted to give the fix on this. The problem is indeed Windows Update. The problem is that Windows feels the nForce network driver is out of date and offers an updated version as an optional hardware update. It will be titled as nVidia - Network - nVidia nforce networking controller. Just go to Control Panel > Programs and Features (Unistall a Program, if you are set to category view in Control Panel) > View Installed Updates (It's on the left side of the Window), find the entry and uninstall it.

This can also happen if you manually install the nVidia nForce chipset drivers and leave the network controller option checked. If this happened, goto Control Panel > Programs and Features (Unistall a Program, if you are set to category view in Control Panel) and choose the nForce drivers and choose Modify. Remove check box for network controller and then it will force reboot and you are good again.
