HP Elitebook 8440p and Deltaco DP-3010 Displayport2HDMI

Hi All.

I have a HP Elitebook 8440p running windows XP3, which has the Intel HD Graphics chipset. I have recently bought a Deltaco DP-3010 Displayport To HDMI adapter, in the hope that I could use the displayport to connect the laptop to a flat TV via HDMI.

My problem is that nothing happens when plugging the cable in. It is as if I hadn't connected anything to the computer - the display doesn't show up in the display settings and nothing happens when I click Fn+F4.

Is the cable for some reason not working with my system? Does the displayport work under XP? Any ideas?

Cheers,
Jesper

May be there is an option of TV as output in the display properties?

That's what you'd think, right? However, there is nothing under the Monitor/TV settings either. But as far as I know a DisplayPort should actually be the replacement for the DVI port - that is it's designed to attach monitors to as well as TVs. Show one would think that my TV should work like a monitor, as it does when I attach it through the VGA cable. (Which works just fine). But nothing happens... Defective cable, defective DisplayPort on my laptop, or software problems? What's your guess?

So your TV would be recongnized via "normal" VGA compatible port? I'll try another cable 1st then

The monitor works via vga, but i would prefer the improved picture quality of digital signal transfer. At work I use a DVI monitor via a docking station with no problems. I'm going to try connecting this monitor via a standard Displayport cable. It's a bit annoying to get a new cable to check if the cable you just bought works....
