Home media PC

I goggled and was overwhelmed. CAC mentioned in one of my threads that he remembers Coffee building a home media server, so I started looking. I can't nail this down and I need some help, here is what I want to do:

1. Convert my dvd's to digital
2. Store the content
3. Serve the content to my TV (done with a special video card??)
4. Uses an infrared or serial remote - doesn't need a keyboard or mouse on the table at all times
5. Does 1080P
6. Blu-ray capable

Can I do this?

easy enough. use Handbrake for 1, a large hard drive for 2, anything with HDMI out for 3 5 and 6. a small AMD Fusion or nVidia ION board would be great for the task. add a Blu-ray drive and the software and there's your blu-ray playback

the remote thing I'm less sure of, I havent used any before but I bet you could find infrared/bluetooth/wireless remotes plenty. or you could grab something like this, I ordered one of these recently to use for the PC I have hooked up to my HDTV: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005BZNE2U/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details

I have an interesting setup with my current laptop that's connected to my HDTV via HDMI. I use Cyberlink's Blu Ray software to play BR movies, and there is an Android application which allows me to control the playing of movies from my Droid X. It's kind of cool, and works really well.
