Emachines 725 backlight problem

Hello!

My friend bought a used Acer Emachines E725. Problem is there is no backlight, we can see the screen image if we light it, but the neon isnt turning on.

We changed the lcd cable, the inverter, the lcd screen but isnt helped. The screen is working good in another laptop.

What can be the problem?

Thanks for your answer.

Is the display functioning correctly when you plug in an external monitor?

Yes, with external monitor the screen is fine.

Swap out the whole lcd unit (lcd, inverter, cable) from the same working model. If this does not work, use a magnifying glass to look around the cable connect area on the motherboard for burning or fine crack

You most likely need to replace the LCD Inverter Board :
eMachines E625 E725 Series, part numbers DV4-1220, DV4-1227 and DV4-1228. All you have to do is remove the plastic piece (4 screws after pealing off the rubber bumpers) surrounding your screen. The inverter is on the bottom and has a cable plugged into it. Just order the part on eBay for under $20.00.

Paul

ps. An Acer Aspire 5517 or 5517 LCD Inverter P/N: PK070009K00 will also work for this laptop as they are identical twins.

Thanks Paul,  It sounds like that might be what my issues is.  I took off the bezel and removed the inverter.  Nothing to it.  I found a new one on ebay for $4.38 including shipping.  Hard to believe. Hopefully that will fix the problem.  If not I'm only out a couple of bucks and less than 15 minutes of work.

THANKS,

Jim
