I emailed the guy that invented it, regarding purchasing a unit. He said that there are instructions on how to build one in one of his books

Ya I am not sure if I could build one it usually means reading hundreds of diagrams that I don’t understand and becoming a master electrician it is a very interesting idea though.

And yes, there are some honest to whatever cyborgs out there. Steve Mann, the guy with Eyetap is one of them. Lots of others about. Watch out for them. They have minds that are litterally like a steel trap. Who knows what's going on behind those dark glasses? Even The Shadow may not know.

I've tried head-mounted displays, but they are pretty much like looking at a big-screen TV in a dark room (but are considerably more expensive than a big screen TV and a dark room).

Instead, I go with a big flat monitor, a dark room, and a pair of 3-d shutter glasses (e-dimensional is pretty inexpensive).

Head trackers work pretty well, but it just doesn't 'feel' right in shooters. If you could aim with the mouse, while looking with the head tracker, it would be MUCH better. They do add quite a bit to a flight simulator experience if you have mouse-look and joystick-fly.

I wouldnt mind being a Cyborg. After reading the eyetap thing a couple of months ago, I really wanted to buy one. Unfortunately (or fortunately? ) they dont sell them. It would just be such a neat experience.
