So i bought erecovery disc from acer, and after the recovery is done and windows goes to setup my new os settings, i get a bluescreen, and when i try to restart the same windows booting setup i get an error saying that it was unexpectedly reset and i have to restart comp and restart installation..maybe my boot area of my harddrive is corrupted? any help is much appriciated

I have this memory installed in my Inspiron 14R. 6gb (one 2gb & one 4gb). Great performance! I highly recommend Kingston.

Well what can I say, I needed that little bit of extra storage that as a family we could all use. After searching around I narrowed it down to three suppliers, not the cheapest, but all well...

Are you able to capture the error code and message of the blue screen? Got another drive to try out?
cheers ...
interesting, so i reseated my harddrive and took out both my mem sticks, then put one mem stick back in. doing this i managed to get the installation past the point it usually bsod's. im up to the point where it bsod's while windows is loading the desktop setting for brand new created account, witch is the very last step, but during this proccess it consistantly bsod's now...if i had fualty ram or harddrive would it even get this far?
This time i was able to get past the desktop preperation phase and into the os, i went into control panel to delete a user account becuase in the process of the bsod's i managed to make 3 with the setup before attually successfully loading one. however when i went to delete one it went to a blue screen
more things to add: It blue screened in safe mode, and also the blue screens almost always have a different technical code but are always irql_not_less_or_equal. keep in mind that i was having blue screen problems before this instal, and this instal wiped c: clean for the new os...what could be causing this? it doesnt seem to have symptoms of normal blue screen attacks as far as ive read. if it was memory or HD issues would i even be able to get into the os? i just cant figure this out.
another thing to add is that is does seem to last longer without a blue screen in safe mode but still gets them.

PROBLEM FIXED: managed to get a ataport.sys error in the blue screen, googled it, and found people saying its a rootkit virus. downloaded the suggested scan and removal tool in safe mode, scanned, rootkit found, then eliminated. laptop works perfectly now. Im stoked considering this laptop has been broke for about a year since i gave up last time fixing it.
