Boot up problem on XPS M1710

Hi

 

I had previously opened up my xps m1710 before to clean in up and put some arctic silver

ok alls gone well as the xps at least starts

BUT!! I keep getting this message during  boot-up, and i don't know if its a hardware or software fault.

I have taken the xps HD out of its Caddy and attached it to my other dell via usb

I have also re-insearted the HD and checked everything in BIOS the HD shows up

and changed the boot seq to boot from CD as i have Win 7 CD, but i still get the same message

Got anything serious on the drive to be saved? Reformat it with Linux and re-install anew

Or you try using the current set up of the external housing and see if you can make the drive system un-hidden via Windows Computer disk management

Hi

Many thanks for prompt response, the xps HD was formatted by connecting it to my D810 through usb and using the file management option in xp as seen in the photos 3,4,5

But still i can't access the xps hd cry.gifcry.gif

Take the machine apart again and making sure that the drive connector (if any) seats securely on the board. Something might get knocked loose unintentionally

Hi

Is it necessary to open the xps again because if i slide the hd drive out of the xps and go into bios then device info there is nothing showing up in primary hd. Then if i switch the xps off, slide the hd back in start the xps go into bios>device info, the primary hd shows up as 160gb ( pic 6)

at this prompt, change the boot sequence to optical drive and restart the comp (no turning off) from BIOS - can you load up the installation disk and accessing the drive from the OS installation?
