I have problem with my Acer Aspire 5220 which is about 5 years old. Two months ago on the screen appeared some horizontal black lines. Below is screenshot of that. After couple of minutes black lines disappeared and never show again.
After few weeks my computer booted with black screen. I heard windows startup sound so computer must worked but screen was still black. After few reboots screen started working again and keeped working all day but next day (week ago from now) screen was again dead and never turns up anymore.
Firstly I think that it must be a bad cable between motherboard and LCD but then I remember about that black lines - this must been some GPU error, not cable (black lines won't be on screenshot). On the other side, if I connect laptop to external screen everything is ok - GPU must be ok. There weren't any screen blinking during opening/closing lid which indicates that screen cable is going to hell..
I can try replace screen cable but I'm in doubt if it will fix my problem.
Any tips, ideas or experiences?
